WASHINGTON, April 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The American Red Cross today launched Red Cross Racing, a new national campaign to recruit NASCAR fans as blood donors and raise awareness of the need to give blood. Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood.
Race fans are now able to join the Donor Rewards Program by visiting redcrossracing.com, an easy way to schedule blood donation appointments online. The site also offers frequent donors the chance to get points, which can be exchanged for Red Cross Racing gear, including caps, t-shirts, jackets and limited edition die-cast cars. Race fans can also join Red Cross Racing at one of the nine NASCAR races where a Red Cross trailer will be on the midway. All participants who sign up between April 24 and October 1 are automatically entered into a sweepstakes for an all-expense-paid trip for two to the race in Phoenix on November 9, 2008.
Through the support of 3M and Roush Fenway Racing — two highly respected organizations in the NASCAR motorsports world — the No. 16 ford Fusion will race this Sunday in Talladega, Ala. in a full paint scheme featuring the Red Cross logo. The car will be driven by Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet member and blood donor Greg Biffle.
People can give blood up to six times a year, or every 56 days, yet only about 37 percent of blood donors give more than once each year. Through this national campaign, the Red Cross hopes to increase the number of blood donations and to encourage people to give more often. The creation of Red Cross Racing seeks to expand on the organization’s existing successful partnerships within NASCAR.
The No. 16 ford Fusion will also feature the full Red Cross paint scheme on November 9, 2008 during the Phoenix race. In both races Biffle will wear a Red Cross-branded fire suit. In addition, the Red Cross logo will be seen on the No. 16 ford Fusion in eight other races this season.

Based on the 4.6L 3V ford aluminum block, the entire internal package is upgraded with premium Saleen engineered forged pistons, rods, crankshaft and valve train components, and camshaft that will exceed the requirements of even the professional engine builder. The basis of our performance data is from the current 2008 Heritage Saleen platforms. Our packages will range from 390hp (normally-aspirated 302 engines) to 580hp (supercharged 302 engines) using existing EPA certified induction and exhaust systems. Furthermore, these packages can be further upgraded with 6 speed transmissions, high performance clutch/flywheels, higher performance rear end differentials, Watts link rear suspension kits and, of course, superchargers.

Ford is Neutral on Tracinda Tender Offer
DEARBORN, Mich., May 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ ford Motor Company announced today that its Board of Directors has determined that ford will express no opinion and is neutral with respect to Tracinda Corporation’s tender offer to purchase up to 20 million shares of Ford’s common stock at a price of $8.50 per share, net to the seller in cash.

N.R. Narayana Murthy Joins Ford Foundation Board of Trustees
NEW YORK, May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The ford Foundation announced today the election of N.R. Narayana Murthy to its board of trustees.
Mr. Murthy is chairman of the board and chief mentor of Infosys Technologies Limited, an international software services firm based in Bangalore, India. He will join the board at its May meeting, which begins today. ford Foundation trustees are elected by the full board and serve six-year terms.

Butterflies Set to Flutter Thursday at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens
VAIL, Colo., May 12 /PRNewswire/ — Thousands of Painted Ladies will take flight soon at America’s highest botanical garden.
More than 400 Eagle County third-graders are expected to participate in the annual Butterfly Launch at noon on Thursday at Betty ford Alpine Gardens, in Vail’s ford Park, sponsored by The Hernreich Family Foundation.
“The Butterfly Launch is one of the most festive celebrations we offer at the Gardens. Three Metaldyne Plants Recognized by Ford for Outstanding Supplier Delivery Performance
PLYMOUTH, Mich., May 9 /PRNewswire/ — Three Metaldyne powder metal facilities in three countries were recently recognized by ford for outstanding supplier delivery performance, Metaldyne Corporation said today.
Metaldyne Sintered Components Espana received recognition from ford of Europe for five years of 100 percent supplier delivery performance to the automaker’s production plants.
In a letter to the plant in Valencia, Spain, ford of Europe acknowledged this accomplishment was “hard to reach and requires professionalism and a lot of effort such as the correct use of the ford systems, direct and effective reaction to problems and good communication.” The automaker thanked the plant for “having met our requirements in such an extraordinary way.”
