GM-Volt.com, unlike a lot of other sites, is honest. Many of the other “bloggers” are really “content whores” who post thin content on hot topics and use Google ads to “make millions from the web”. There’s a bunch of sleazy get-rich-quick schemes; they become “instant experts” on stuff about which they know nothing. Some are well-intentioned; others just after free money and quick buck.

http://GM-Volt.com was started by a doctor, mostly it’s honestly promoting the VOLT.

But it’s OH-SO-IGNORANT! The general media lies told by GM and its paid media-hounds, PR sluts, paid posters and focus groups have attracted a following of well-meaning dupes.

Here’s an antidote posted on that site:

———————————-
Let’s examine GM’s argument about why they had to destroy the EV1 instead of selling it to willing buyers. This is relevant to whether you believe GM is serious about selling the VOLT, about which there
is serious doubt.

According to GM and Bob Lutz at the time, it was liability and maintenance costs that made it impossible to sell the EV1 to its own loving lessees.

But when you sell a car, its maintenance pertains to the buyer, not
the seller. That’s what selling means.

Now let’s compare to a real car company that sold a real car to real
buyers.

Toyota sold the last 300 Toyota RAV4-EV to willing buyers for $42,000 between Mar. and Nov. 2002, which was over-subscribed. It
wasn’t until Sept., 2003, that the last one was scraped up and
delivered.

What has Toyota had to pay for support of the Toyota RAV4-EV since
then? Absolutely nothing.

It’s a commonly known fact that auto makers typically make more money on logistical support (parts and service) of cars they sell than they made on the original purchase.

Now why was it, then, that GM confiscated and crushed the EV1, and
why did they then lie about the reason for doing so?

But of course, the well-intentioned “newbies” (and paid GM posters)
don’t want to think about, or hear about, GM’s past history of deceit and lies.

GM and Toyota are suing the state of California to stop implementation of AB1493, which would cut Green House Gas emissions from cars over a number of years. If they are really coming out with cleaner cars, why are they fighting to keep their cars dirty?

What’s needed is picketing Chevron gas stations to ask Chevron to release the NiMH batteries, and GM dealers to ask GM to stop suing for dirty air.

Kids raised in proximity to a freeway (or a refinery, or cars) suffer significantly more permanent lung damage during the “lung spurt” age 10 to age 18 demographic than those raised farther away, according to many studies.

DETROIT — Three official images of the five-passenger Chevrolet Cruze were released on Thursday in advance of the small car’s debut at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. GM’s bread-and-butter brand insists that it is making a “strong design statement” with its global vehicle.

“Our goal in designing Cruze was to be bold, not evolutionary,” said Taewan Kim, Cruze chief designer, in a statement. “We wanted to take a big step forward, making a strong design statement for Chevrolet products around the world.”

Chevrolet detailed its launch plans for the car, saying that it will debut in Europe in March 2009, followed by other global markets “with regional-specific engine choices.” At the same time, General Motors on Thursday confirmed that it will build the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze at its Lordstown, Ohio, facility after a multibillion-dollar investment there. Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager, told WJR-AM in Detroit on Thursday that the Cruze will “sell in over 100 countries.

“The market is red hot for small vehicles,” he said. Peper also described the Cruze as a “smaller version of [the Chevrolet] Malibu. “It’s wider and longer than most of the small cars out there,” he said.

In a statement, Chevrolet said that the Cruze will be launched in Europe with 112-horsepower 1.6-liter and 140-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder gas engines, along with a new 150-hp 2.0-liter turbodiesel. The engines are linked to a five-speed manual transmission or Chevrolet’s first six-speed automatic transmission in the compact segment.

The exterior design cues on the Cruze include a sculpted hood and two-tier grille. “Inside, Cruze features a ‘twin cockpit’ design motif, first introduced in the iconic Corvette sports car,” said Chevrolet.

The Cruze is the replacement for the Chevrolet Cobalt. It will be the first vehicle to use GM’s revamped Delta 2 platform, an architecture that will be used on all GM small cars around the globe, including replacements for the Chevrolet HHR and the Opel Zafira and its related siblings.

Beth Lowery, GM’s vice president of environment, energy and safety policy, told the Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Michigan, earlier this month that the Cruze will get better gas mileage than the Cobalt.
